  1. The term acquital is  used in law and is the
  2. setting free of someone charged with a crime
  3. after a trial. In English courts it follows
  4. a verdict of "not guilty", but in Scotland
  5. the verdict may be either "not guilty" or
  6. "not proven".  Acquittal by the jury must be
  7. confirmed by the judge.
